报告人简介:

        Dr Tanghua Li is a Senior Research Fellow at the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Prior to joining EOS, NTU as a Research Fellow, he obtained his PhD in Geophysics from the University of Hong Kong and received his BSc in Geophysics from the China University of Geosciences. Dr Li’s research interests include interactions of ice sheets, ocean and solid Earth, and their lasting impact on the Earth system, with a specific focus on modelling the Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) process with 3D (laterally heterogeneous) model and associated sea-level/ice sheet evolution, vertical land movement, gravity field change during the last glacial cycle. His research contributes to the better understanding of Earth rheological structure and glaciation/deglaciation history, which helps to constrain estimates of future sea-level change and understand the response of ice sheets to climate change. Dr Li is also interested in interdisciplinary studies exploring sea-level change impacts and applications.


报告内容:

Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA), describing the dynamic interactions among the solid Earth, ice sheets, and the ocean, has been the primary driver of relative sea-level (RSL) changes since the Last Glacial Maximum. Conventional GIA models typically assume a laterally homogeneous (1D) Earth structure, allowing Earth properties to vary radially only. However, seismic tomography and field geology reveal that Earth properties vary both radially and laterally, highlighting the need and importance of laterally heterogeneous (3D) GIA models. In this talk, I will present the 3D GIA modelling and associated RSL change from the Arctic to the Tropics through three case studies.
