报告人简介：
David Waite is a Scientia Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Professor Waite obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Tasmania, Masters degree from Monash University and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His speciality areas of teaching are water chemistry and water treatment and his principle research area is that of investigation of physico-chemical processes in natural and engineered systems. In addition to his role at UNSW in Sydney, Professor Waite is the Executive Director and Chairman of the UNSW Centre for Transformational Environmental Technologies (CTET) in Yixing in Jiangsu Province and is an Executive Editor of the American Chemical Society journal Environmental Science & Technology. He was honoured with membership of the US National Academy of Engineering in 2018.
报告内容：
Iron and natural organic matter represent two of the most common constituents of natural waters with their interaction critical to the forms of each species present under both dark and light conditions. In this talk, Professor Waite will describe the research that his group has undertaken over a number of years to clarify the nature of the interactions between Fe and NOM and will provide insight as to why a sound understanding of Fe-NOM interactions is important to the functioning of natural systems.
